Ben Johnson delivered clear message to Bears players

New Chicago Bears head coach Ben Johnson met with the media for the first time on Wednesday, where he laid out his plans as the 19th head coach in franchise history. He was in command, confident and clear with his expectations.

There were a few Bears players in attendance -- quarterback Caleb Williams, receivers DJ Moore and Rome Odunze, and tight end Cole Kmet -- and Johnson addressed them directly when explaining what to expect with him leading the charge.

"Get comfortable being uncomfortable," Johnson said. "The bar is being set higher than its been set before... We're going to push and we're going to challenge... Our mission starting this spring is to win and win now.”

Johnson's message is a breath of fresh air and something that this locker room is surely craving. There were multiple times last season where players were asking to be coached harder and be held accountable. But Johnson also believes that the Bears have a roster that can compete -- and win -- right away. Essentially, the playoffs are on the table.

"There’s no question, it can happen in 2025," Johnson said. "It depends on how hard we’re willing to work and how much we’re willing to sacrifice."
