Ben Johnson believes Bears can make playoffs in 2025

There is no time being wasted waiting around for new Chicago Bears head coach Ben Johnson, who has high expectations for his team this season.

Speaking to the media at his introductory press conference on Wednesday, Johnson, who praised everyone from the talent on the roster to the people in the building at Halas Hall and the front office, believes that the Bears can be a playoff team in his first season with Chicago.

Having already mentioned that he felt the team was the one who scared him the most heading into this past season, Johnson wouldn't pinpoint where things failed but believes there's a light at the end of the tunnel.

"I don’t think many people understand how set up for success this place is,” Johnson said with extreme confidence when discussing what he has in front of him with the Bears team.

With the playoffs in mind as a goal for next year, Johnson said it will ultimately fall on the team's effort.

"There’s no question, it can happen in 2025," Johnson said. "It depends on how hard we’re willing to work and how much we’re willing to sacrifice."

There was a special energy to Johnson's press conference, with quarterback Caleb Williams, receivers DJ Moore and Rome Odunze, and tight end Cole Kmet sitting in the front row as their new coach was introduced. The expectations for the 2025 season, just as the excitement was for Wednesday's official introduction, will be very high for the Bears.

It will now be up to Johnson and the front office to address the holes and missing pieces to the Bears roster, then ultimately Johnson and the players to turn it around quickly if they believe the playoffs can be reached in his first season.
