Bellingham and Palmer back as Carsley names England squad
Jude Bellingham and Cole Palmer have been recalled to the England squad ahead of October’s internationals against Greece and Finland.
Lee Carsley has named his squad for this month’s upcoming games and the duo return after injuries ruled them out of Carley’s first squad as interim boss last month. Phil Foden is also back involved after sitting out in September.
Morgan Gibbs-White and Angel Gomes retain their places in the squad after making debuts for the Three Lions last month, with the latter having impressed on his first start against Finland.
There’s also a first call-up in seven years for Dominic Solanke. The 27-year-old was handed a sole cap in a friendly against Brazil in November 2017 and returns to the England squad for the first time since that appearance. Solanke has scored three goals in six games since a £65m club-record move to Tottenham from Bournemouth in the summer.
There’s no place in the squad for Manchester United defender Harry Maguire, Tottenham midfielder James Maddison, or West Ham winger Jarrod Bowen.
England host Greece at Wembley Stadium on Thursday before travelling to Finland on Sunday for their Nations League B fixtures.
