Belleville Senators Sign Sam Gagner To Professional Tryout

The Belleville Senators have signed veteran forward Sam Gagner to a professional tryout.

The 35-year-old spent last season in the Edmonton Oilers organization, posting 10 points in 28 NHL games and nine points in 15 games with the AHL's Bakersfield Condors.

Gagner served as Team Canada's captain at the 2024 Spengler Cup, picking up one assist in three games.

The sixth overall selection in the 2007 NHL draft, Gagner has 197 goals and 529 points in 1043 NHL games over parts of 17 seasons with the Oilers, Winnipeg Jets, Detroit Red Wings, Vancouver Canucks, Columbus Blue Jackets, Philadelphia Flyers and Arizona Coyotes.

Gagner has 18 goals and 56 points in 71 career AHL games with the Condors, Toronto Marlies and Lehigh Valley Phantoms.

The London, Ont., native is expected to be in the Senators lineup tonight as they take on the Hershey Bears.

Professional tryout contracts can last up to 25 games and can be terminated at any time.
