Yahoo Sports Bellator champion Mix asks to be released by PFL
Bellator bantamweight champion Patchy Mix has asked to be released from his contract with owners the PFL as he is frustrated about a lack of fights.
The American, 31, who last fought in May, wrote on X last month he has had two fights cancelled by the promotion - one in November and one in January.
The PFL acquired Bellator last year, outlining a plan of eight Bellator shows in 2024, but only five have taken place.
"My manager told me to hold off but haven't heard anything from the PFL or [PFL chairman] Donn Davis. If you are not gonna have me fight then please release me from contract," Mix wrote in another post on X.
"This is not what I want but if I'm not important to the company being a multi-time champ then let me go respectfully."
Mix follows a number of Bellator stars who have revealed their frustrations with the PFL's matchmaking in recent weeks.
Featherweight champion Patricio Pitbull said he is "worried about the future of Bellator" in a lengthy post on social media, while light-heavyweight title holder Corey Anderson has called the situation a "flip-flop".
In May, former middleweight champion Gegard Mousasi was released from his contract with the PFL after complaining about a lack of activity.
