‘I believe in Erik ten Hag’: ‘Motivated’ Man Utd starlet cannot wait for the new season to get started

Manchester United are set to clash with Real Betis in their second match of the pre-season tour to the United States.

Amad Diallo attended the pre-match press conference and admitted he cannot wait to start the new season.

He said (via Manchester Evening News): I’m very happy here. I think everyone is happy with me because I smile with everyone, good energy. Why not stay here all my life?

“I am so motivated to start the season, I’m so excited, I believe in the manager.

“Last season, I know didn’t play a lot but this season is going to be a good season for everyone and I’m so motivated to start the season.

“I think everyone wants to play, that’s why in the training you need to put everything in to fight and start in the XI.

“Everyone wants to play. We have a good team, good players – Antony, Sancho, Garnacho, Rashford – so the final [decision] is the manager who can decide who is on the pitch and who is on the bench.”

Amad Diallo awaits a very crucial season of his career

Man United signed Diallo from Atalanta in June 2021. Over the last three years, the young Ivorian has been sent on a couple of loan spells.

He is considered one of the promising young talents in European football. He lived up to the hype by delivering electrifying performances during his loan stint with Sunderland.

The 22-year-old netted 14 goals for the Black Cats and played a crucial role in taking the club to the Championship play-offs.

Many thought he would take centre stage last season but an untimely injury halted his momentum.

When he returned, Erik ten Hag gave opportunities to players ahead in the pecking order.

He did show his worth in the latter part of the campaign.

He scored the all-important match-winning goal against Liverpool in the FA Cup Quarter-finals.

His strike was one of the highlights of United’s campaign and even the starlet won’t forget that moment.

Ten Hag must give Diallo more chances as he seems to be the perfect fit for the right-wing spot.

His impressive performances have made a compelling case for him to receive more opportunities, especially given Antony’s struggles since his high-profile transfer from Ajax.

His dynamic play could bring a fresh spark to the squad and could unlock the attacking potential of United.
