Iconic American Olympian invites 'The Rock' to try curling
Never shy to experiment and take on different projects, Dwayne Johnson may have just laid the foundation for a crossover event we didn’t know we needed.
On Wednesday, the NBC Olympics Twitter account shared a photo of United States star curler Matt Hamilton, with an image of Johnson — widely known as The Rock — photoshopped onto a curling stone — also known as a rock.

The clever bit of editing quickly caught Johnson’s attention, leading to a hilarious response from the famous actor and former wrestler.
“I did not know that the thing being pushed on the ice — which for years I’ve been referring to as “the gimmick they push” is actually called THE ROCK,” Johnson said. “Very cool, but nowhere near as cool as Matt Hamilton’s focus, flexibility and hair.”
Took me a sec to figure this out 🙋🏽♂️
I did not know that the thing being pushed on the ice - which for years I’ve been referring to as “the gimmick they push” is actually called THE ROCK. Very cool.
But nowhere near as cool as @MattJamilton’s focus, flexibility & hair. LFG!! 🇺🇸🪨 https://t.co/xGVXvQWaHp— Dwayne Johnson (@TheRock) February 16, 2022
Hamilton, likely used to getting compliments over his funky style, could not contain his excitement over the admiration of his newest fan.
“Holy smoke, thanks Mr. The Rock,” the 32-year-old tweeted. “If you ever wanna give curling a try, let me know!”

Hamilton is competing in his second Olympic Games, having won the gold medal in the team event in Pyeongchang in 2018. The McFarland, Wisc., native is a four-time national champion and won the bronze medal in the 2016 world championships in Basel, Switzerland.
Despite being in ridiculously good shape, Johnson may have to practice his nimbleness and flexibility before he can be trusted with the rock and keep up on a curling surface with Hamilton and his team.
