Behind The Scenes Of Oilers Listless Loss

EDMONTON -- Looks like Marc-Andre Fleury got the last laugh.

The Edmonton Oilers lacked flash enroute to a 5-3 drumming at the hands of the Minnesota Wild.

The future Hall-Of-Famer didn't get off to the start he wanted, letting a flub of a goal past him 27 seconds into the game. Despite the poor start, Fleury picked up the 565th win of his career.

Last Minute Switch-E-Roo

After this morning's morning skate, the Oilers recalled defender Josh Brown, whom they had just lent to the Bakersfield Condors the previous night. In the warm-ups before the game, a change on defense was revealed: Brown was replacing Travis Dermott.

According to Preston, Dermott was out because he is sick.

Third Period Huddle

It's not uncommon to see a few players huddle up before a faceoff to strategize. However, Thursday night's game featured an interesting moment caught on camera.

Before the opening faceoff of the third period, the group of Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl, Vasily Podkolzin, Mattias Ekholm, and Evan Bouchard met on the ice and talked for at least a minute.

If they had scored after that huddle, there might have been more to say about the "meeting of the minds."

Odds & Ends

-Perry's goal presented something significant: the first time in about 10 years that a 39-year-old scored a goal on another 39-year-old.

-Jeff Skinner scored his first goal in a long time last night. Time will tell if this is enough to get him out of the doghouse.
