Beaufort County man killed in Wednesday morning accident on Trask Parkway, police say

A 37-year-old man from Beaufort County was killed in a two-car accident Wednesday in Yemassee, according to the town’s police department.

James Lamont “Boogie” Roberts, of Sheldon, was pronounced dead Wednesday at Beaufort Memorial Hospital, according to a Thursday press release from the Yemassee Police Department.

The crash took place around 9:20 a.m. Wednesday, blocking both westbound lanes of Highway 17 for most of the morning. Roberts, driving a Hyundai Santa Fe, was struck by a Chevrolet Silverado while trying to turn left onto the highway from Castle Hall Road.

Funeral services have not yet been arranged, but will be held at Marshel’s Wright-Donaldson Home for Funerals, according to the man’s obituary.

The accident is under investigation by the Yemassee Police Department.
