Bears WR DJ Moore clarifies vacation comments
Last week, Chicago Bears wide receiver DJ Moore made headlines when he was asked what he's looking forward to the most this offseason, and responded with "vacation." Moore added that he would let the coaches "do all the work and then come back ready to go" when addressing the upcoming offseason that is just two games away in a lost season for the team.
On Monday, Moore looked to clarify those comments, saying that he wasn't mailing it in with three games remaining on the schedule when he said it. Moore said his words were taken out of context, and he wasn't trying to imply that he is currently on vacation and not caring about the team while there were still games to be played, including Sunday's 34-17 loss to the Detroit Lions. In the loss to Detroit, Moore was targeted 10 times and had seven receptions for 68 yards.
"It was definitely taken the wrong way," Moore said on 670 the Score. "He definitely asked about the offseason and the next head coach or coaches that will be coming in.
"I wasn't trying to say I was on vacation already."
There has been clear and obvious frustration from Moore and many members of the Bears, especially on the offensive side. In what has been a disappointing and lost season, Moore has 83 receptions for 826 yards and five touchdowns. He's also been used as a running back and involved in more reverse and motion plays as the offense continued to struggle to find any sense of production in any possible way.
Two games remain for Moore and the Bears, and there's no doubt that the many want the season to come to a merciful end. But the team as a whole needs to focus on putting an end to their losing streak which currently sits at nine games.
