Bears working out veteran S Terrell Edmunds

The Chicago Bears are looking for help at the safety position and are bringing in a veteran who has a familiar name. According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, the Bears are working out safety Terrell Edmunds, who is the brother of linebacker Tremaine Edmunds.

The veteran safety was drafted in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers and has enjoyed a solid career up to this point, but has bounced around in recent years. After five years in Pittsburgh, Edmunds spent half a season with the Philadelphia Eagles before he was dealt to the Tennessee Titans as part of the Kevin Byard trade, who coincidentally is now with the Bears. Edmunds was with the Jacksonville Jaguars earlier this year but was released and re-joined the Steelers on their practice squad. He has six career interceptions and 7.5 sacks over the course of seven seasons.

He has a chance to get back on an active roster with the Bears due to injuries at the position. Jaquan Brisker has been out since early October with a concussion and will miss at least the next three games. Meanwhile, backup Elijah Hicks suffered an ankle injury last Sunday against the Green Bay Packers and could be out as well. Edmunds could be a solution for the Bears and play with his brother for the first time in his career. There could also be other safety options the Bears are looking at as well ahead of their divisional tilt with the Minnesota Vikings.
