Bears TE Cole Kmet reflects on disappointing 2024 season

Chicago Bears tight end Cole Kmet showed it last week, and his frustration was once again obvious this week following the loss to the Seattle Seahawks in Week 17 on Thursday Night Football. Kmet, who has now been on the Bears roster for two separate 10-game losing streaks, one in 2022 and this season's losing streak, continued to voice his frustration after the loss to Seattle.

Speaking to reporters in the locker room after the 6-3 loss, in which the offense totaled 179 yards and saw quarterback Caleb Williams get sacked seven times, Kmet said the season has not been what anyone expected this year. Even more so for Kmet, who last season totaled 73 receptions, for 719 yards, and six touchdowns, and this year has 45 receptions, for 471 yards, and four touchdowns, and has had multiple games with where he's been totaled only once or none at all in the passing game.

"It's tough, yeah, it's tough to go out like that [final home game]" Kmet said, via Marquee Sports Network. "It's been a long year, a long tough year, tough to see it end like this for being at Soldier [Field]. Just tough overall, definitely not the season we envisioned coming into the year." Kmet told

Kmet's frustration is more than justified and understandable, as the feeling seems to resonate with most players in the Bears locker room. Coming into this season with high expectations in one of, if not the most competitive division in the NFL, Chicago was beyond embarrassing all season, including an 0-5 record in the division, as the Packers await in Week 18.
