Bears roster turnover: How many new Week 1 starters in 2024?
The Chicago Bears have undergone plenty of changes in the third offseason under general manager Ryan Poles and head coach Matt Eberflus, which has this roster looking like one that can contend for the playoffs in 2024.
The most notable change is at quarterback, where No. 1 pick Caleb Williams replaces Justin Fields, who was traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers this offseason. There's plenty of other new faces on the offensive side of the ball, including wide receiver. The defense has just one new starting addition on defense, although Montez Sweat will make his first Week 1 start with Chicago as a new three-technique steps into the fold.
When the Bears take on the Tennessee Titans, there will be 10 new Week 1 starters compared to last year’s team. There have been a number of guys replaced following their departures or because of upgrades at the position. Or, in the case of long snapper, Patrick Scales will miss the first four weeks after landing on injured reserve after back surgery.
Here’s a quick look at those changes from 2023 to 2024.
