Bears' Roschon Johnson reacts to getting punched by Azeez Al-Shaair
The Chicago Bears (1-1) were defeated by the Houston Texans (2-0), 19-13, in a hard-fought defensive battle on Sunday Night Football. There were some big hits on both sides, but Texans linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair took things too far in the third quarter.
After a brutal sideline hit on quarterback Caleb Williams, the rookie's teammates came to his defense, and Al-Shaair found himself surrounded and there was plenty of shoving. But Al-Shaair took a cheap shot at running back Roschon Johnson, who was trying to deescalate the fight, punching him in the helmet. Al-Shaair then tried to shove right tackle Darnell Wright, who was an immovable force.
Johnson didn't retaliate as a response. But neither did the officials, who didn't flag Al-Shaair and let him continue playing rather than ejecting him. The scene was the talk of social media at that point of a one-score game, where NFL fans couldn't believe the refs let Al-Shaair's behavior slide considering the number of flags thrown that night.
After the game, Johnson took to X (Twitter) to react to Al-Shaair's dirty punch.
"It took every bit of my soul not to thrash that boy," Johnson wrote.

Al-Shaair's behavior was unacceptable and should've, at bare minimum, been a personal foul, but it should've resulted in an ejection. He's sure to receive post-game discipline from the NFL in the form of a massive fine and potential suspension.
