Bears rookie duo of Caleb Williams-Rome Odunze impresses vs. Bengals
The No. 1 and No. 9 picks in the 2024 NFL draft finally connected for their first big play as Chicago Bears teammates.
The first-team offense began to show signs of life with only a few minutes to go left in the first half, with quarterback Caleb Williams finding his groove and deliberately throwing the ball with precision. Running back Khalil Herbert provided some support on the ground, peeling off a big reverse-field run.
Williams finally managed to stretch the field on a dazzling play, maneuvering through the pocket, scrambling toward the left sideline, and lofting a jaw-dropping pass directly into the hands of a streaking Rome Odunze, who secured the catch as he went to the ground just short of the endzone.
That's just beautiful 🥹

Williams and Odunze nearly connected in the back corner of the end zone for a touchdown, but Odunze was out of bounds. The Bears offense punched the ball in just a few plays later on the heels of a Williams touchdown scramble.
The Williams-Odunze connection provided a glimpse of what we'll be seeing from Williams and Odunze for the foreseeable future.
