The Chicago Bears are interested in interviewing the architect of one of the best offenses in the league for their head coaching vacancy. According to NFL insider Tom Pelissero, the Bears have put in a request to interview Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator Todd Monken. The long-time coach has spent the last two seasons with the Ravens and has helped elevate quarterback Lamar Jackson's career.

Monken, a native of the Chicagoland area, has been coaching for over 30 years at the collegiate and professional levels. He's held a number of titles throughout his career, including serving as head coach for Southern Miss from 2013-2015. Since then, however, Monken has held offensive coordinator roles with four organizations. He spent time with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 2016 to 2018 and the Cleveland Browns in 2019, before joining Georgia from 2020 to 2022 to help them win two national championships.
With the Ravens, Monken has gotten the most out of Jackson, the 2023 NFL MVP. The Ravens finished with a top-five offense across multiple categories the last two seasons, while Jackson is in the MVP conversation yet again for his outstanding play. Baltimore has gone 25-9 since Monken joined the staff.
Monken isn't a stranger to getting head coaching interviews. The 58-year-old interviewed with the Carolina Panthers and Los Angeles Chargers last offseason, so it's no surprise to see that he's generating interest once again.
The Bears have now requested interviews with eight assistant coaches and one current head coach: Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson, Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn, Miami Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver, Arizona Cardinals Drew Petzing, New York Giants offensive coordinator Mike Kafka, Minnesota Vikings defensive coordinator Mike Flores, Pittsburgh Steelers offensive coordinator Arthur Smith, Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy, and Monken. General manager Ryan Poles also confirmed Bears interim head coach Thomas Brown will get a formal interview for the permanent role.
