Bears RB Roschon Johnson could see more carries vs. Rams

It's no secret that the Chicago Bears rushing attack has been abysmal this season. The Bears have one of the worst rushing offenses in the league, averaging just 72.7 yards per game through Week 3, primarily due to the ineffectiveness of running back D'Andre Swift. There is some hope for optimism, though.

Chicago inserted second-year back Roschon Johnson on offense for the first time this season and found success. Johnson carried the ball eight times for 30 yards and added four catches for 32 yards. He easily outplayed Swift, and it sounds like the coaching staff wants to see more.

On Wednesday, ESPN NFL insider Jeremy Fowler hinted that Johnson could see more playing time when the Bears welcome the Los Angeles Rams to town.

Johnson was a healthy scratch in Week 1, was active in Week 2, and finally got carries in Week 3. His involvement has slowly, but surely, increased and given his production against the Colts, he deserves to see more carries.

Chicago has struggled to run the ball between the tackles, and that is Johnson's specialty. He's able to bounce off tacklers and keep his feet moving to get the difficult yards up the middle. Johnson also is effective when it comes to pass blocking, which has also been a sore spot for the Bears this year.

Like the Colts, the Rams don't defend the run well, as they're allowing 177 yards per game on the ground. Johnson's increased snaps could finally get this rushing attack back on track, taking the load off quarterback Caleb Williams.
