The Bears will have quite the challenge standing out in the NFC North
When taking a look at the NFL standings, it looks pretty normal. Good teams with winning records sit atop of their respective divisions while struggling teams with just one or two wins through six weeks sit at the bottom. That's the case for all but one division — the NFC North.
The Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers sit at the bottom of the division with a 4-2 record. Those would be first place records in five of the other seven divisions in the NFL. Combined, the NFC North has a 17-5 record throughout the first six weeks of the season, good enough for a .773 win percentage. This marks the first time in NFL history that any division has had a combined win percentage of at least .750 through the first six weeks of the season.
That's not the only history the NFC North has already made this season. After the hot start, they are now the first division since the 2002 realignment with all four teams winning at least four games in the first six weeks of a season.
What does this mean for the Bears? Well, it means they have some tall tasks ahead of them. The Minnesota Vikings are undefeated and look like NFC contenders along with the Detroit Lions (4-1). The Packers are similar to the Bears and have had some bumps in the road, but continue to improve every week.
The Bears will not face an NFC North opponent until Week 11 — pretty late — when they host the Packers at Soldier Field. If either team keeps the momentum they've built up to this point, then it should be a fun and close matchup. But there's no denying that the NFC North has had an insane start to the season, and is probably the best division in the league.
