Bears QB Caleb Williams among elite company in passing stats in 2024

Caleb Williams' rookie season should be one to remember from a personal standpoint, even with his team having very little success in the win category. The wins were not there for Williams and the Chicago Bears, but when it comes to the team's five victories, Williams became the first Bears quarterback to win at Lambeau Field in 10 years.

The win against the Green Bay Packers could be seen as meaningless to many, a Week 18 victory in a rivalry where the Packers lost their starting quarterback, one of their best wide receivers, and had no impact for Chicago other than dropping a spot in their draft position.

Despite all the disaster Williams faced in his rookie season, being sacked 68 times (Bears record), seeing two different head coaches, and three separate offensive coordinators, the top pick in the 2024 NFL Draft had quite the rookie season.

In fact, Williams was one of five quarterbacks to have thrown for 3,500 yards, 20 touchdowns, and an interception rate less than 1.5% -- and the others are all top-tier quarterbacks.

Three of the listed quarterbacks: Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, and Justin Herbert were all in the playoffs, while Joe Burrow had an incredible statistical season, as did Williams. There's been plenty of conversation and comparison for critics of Williams, who see second overall pick Jayden Daniels, who just took his team to the NFC divisional round of the playoffs in his first year with the Commanders, as the better option. The team stats were not there, the blame usually goes to the quarterback when a team is not winning games, so to each their own.

Wins came few and far between for Williams, but he put himself in elite company with his ability to successfully throw the ball on a productive note, while limiting himself to very few interceptions.
