Bears players react to 'sell the team' chants at Soldier Field
Following a promising 4-2 start, the Chicago Bears' season has turned into a complete disaster that's included the firings of head coach Matt Eberflus and offensive coordinator Shane Waldron, and there's also been plenty of heat on general manager Ryan Poles for assembling this roster.
But things reached a new low in the Bears' prime-time matchup against the Seattle Seahawks, where Chicago managed a single field goal in a 6-3 loss on Thursday Night Football. It marked the 10th straight loss of the season -- and it was all in front of a loyal but fed-up Soldier Field crowd.
Bears fans made their frustrations known as chants of "sell the team" broke out among the home crowd, an indication that they're fed up with how this organization is being run by chairman George McCaskey, who has failed to oversee a team that's won a playoff game since he took over in 2011 and has hired four (failed) head coaches and three general managers.
Following the game, quarterback Caleb Williams -- who provided some of the few-and-far-between cheers of the night -- was asked about those chants, and he understands the frustration.
"I've only been here -- this is only my first year," Williams said. "Their frustrations go way longer back than I've been here. My job is to go out there and win games."
Receiver DJ Moore was asked about those frustrated chants during his Monday appearance on 670 the Score, and he also understands where fans are coming from.
"You see it, but you really can't have no reaction to it," Moore said. "Because they're our fans, they love us. Right now, we aren't doing too well. I can understand their frustration. They paid good money to come see us play and win games, and we haven't."
Thursday night's brutal defeat marked the final home game of what's been a dismal season. Now, the focus shifts to a crucial offseason, where the Bears have plenty of work to do to make this team a respectable one for their fans in 2025.
