Bears place Ryan Bates on injured reserve
The Chicago Bears made several roster moves ahead of Sunday night's matchup against the Houston Texans, which included one significant impact along the offensive line.
The Bears placed offensive lineman Ryan Bates on injured reserve. Bates, who's been dealing with shoulder and elbow injuries, will have to miss at least the next four games. He would be eligible to return for Chicago's Week 6 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars in London.
With Bates sidelined for at least the next month, that means it'll be Nate Davis at right guard moving forward. Bates rotated with Davis at right guard in the Week 1 opener, with Bates getting most of the snaps.
Elsewhere, the Bears signed long snapper Scott Daly from the practice squad. Daly served as long snapper in Week 1 in place of Patrick Scales, who's currently on IR and eligible to return in Week 5 against the Carolina Panthers.
Also, Chicago elevated wide receiver Collin Johnson from the practice squad to the active roster for Sunday night's matchup against the Texans. The move comes after receivers Rome Odunze and Keenan Allen were both ruled questionable for Sunday night's game. Odunze suffered a Grade 1 MCL sprain while Allen is dealing with a heel injury. They're both game-time decisions.
