Bears offense made history for being awful vs. 49ers in 1st half
The Chicago Bears came into Sunday's game against the San Francisco 49ers with plenty to prove following the firing of head coach Matt Eberflus last week. The expectation was they'd come out inspired and determined to snap their six-game losing streak with interim head coach Thomas Brown leading the charge.
Unfortunately, that wasn't the case.
The Bears were flat out embarrassed in the first half against the 49ers, where they managed just four yards of total offense (factoring in four Caleb Williams sacks for negative yardage). By comparison, San Francisco tallied 319 yards, 14 first downs and 24 points.
That's a +315 yard differential, which is the largest in any NFL game this season. No game had been over 300 until Sunday.
Rookie quarterback Caleb Williams, who had been on a heater with Brown calling plays on offense in the past three games, had a rough first half completing 6-of-9 passes for 27 yards and those aforementioned four sacks.
