Bears LT Braxton Jones was stellar in Week 5 win over Carolina
The offensive line play of the Chicago Bears has been a relatively hot topic to begin the 2024 season. Through the first five weeks of the season, the Bears are tied for the fourth-most sacks allowed with 17, which hasn't made life simple or easy for rookie quarterback Caleb Williams.
They've allowed at least one sack in each game, while the only two games they've allowed a single sack came in the Week 5 win over the Carolina Panthers, and the Week 3 loss to the Indianapolis Colts. It's been a banged-up unit, too.
During last week's win over the Panthers, guard Teven Jenkins exited early for the second week in a row. They have had to shuffle players around while dealing with injuries and even brought in Bill Murray in relief of Jenkins last week. To his credit, though, Murray earned one of the highest PFF grades for the Bears offense last week.
While the interior of the line has fluctuated, the bookends of the line have remained the same. Left tackle Braxton Jones has been one of the more consistent players on the offensive line, and Week 5 he was no different. According to PFF, Jones not only went the whole game without allowing a sack, he went the entire game with allowing an opponent pressure.

Through five games, Braxton Jones has a PFF grade of 70.8, having played 346 snaps. Though Jones has committed five penalties, he has allowed zero sacks on the season. There are other areas of the Bears offensive line that could benefit from better production and protection, but it appears as if Jones could be the franchise left tackle for years to come as he protects Williams' blindside.
