Bears lock up another losing season after brutal Week 14 loss

The Chicago Bears haven't done a lot of winning in the last decade-plus, but it's even worse than many might realize given the amount of losing seasons they've had.

With the Bears' ninth loss of the 2024 season -- a brutal 38-13 loss to the San Francisco 49ers -- Chicago has now secured a losing record for the 11th time in the last 12 seasons. That one winning season came in Matt Nagy's first season as head coach, when the team went 12-4 in 2018. The Bears have finished with six or fewer wins six times in the last 12 years.

It speaks to the dysfunction of the organization as a whole and how they've handled the hirings of general managers and head coaches, as well as the rosters assembled and the involved of ownership.

Chicago's best non-winning record outside of that 2018 season, has been 8-8 (in 2020, 2019 and 2013) and their worst record was 3-14 in Ryan Poles' first season as general manager in 2022, which secured them the No. 1 pick that became Caleb Williams, DJ Moore, Darnell Wright and more.
