Bears’ Jaylon Johnson went off on Matt Eberflus after Thanksgiving loss

In the immediate aftermath of the Chicago Bears loss to the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving Day, overshadowed by former head coach Matt Eberflus' coaching malpractice, the locker room was an ugly sight for those inside of it.

This past Friday, the Bears made franchise history by firing a head coach in the middle of the season for the first time, and part of that decision may have been what happened in the locker room after Thursday's game, specifically with All-Pro cornerback Jaylon Johnson.

On Sunday morning's "NFL On FOX" pregame show, Insider Jay Glazer detailed what happened with Johnson, who lashed out at Eberflus while the former head coach was looking to address the team after their sixth straight loss.

"It wasn't exactly a Thanksgiving festive situation over there," Glazer said. "Right afterwards, Matt Eberflus started talking to them and immediately Jaylon Johnson, their Pro Bowl cornerback interrupts him and starts speaking in very colorful language."

The lashing from Johnson spelled the end for Eberflus, according to Glazer.

"This went on for about 10-15 minutes I was told, that moment, those players in there, people in the organization knew, that's it for Matt Eberflus, he's gone," he said.

Although many will argue the firing of Eberflus should've happened much sooner, having a team leader and captain rip the coach in the manner in which he did, spelled the end for the former head coach. Recently promoted offensive coordinator Thomas Brown will now not only have a five-game audition for the permanent head coaching job, but he'll be tasked with getting the locker room back together after Eberflus destroyed it on his way out.
