Bears will interview Pete Carroll for head coach on Thursday

The Chicago Bears are in the middle of their head coach search, where there's a long list of names that's included everything from up-and-coming coordinators to former head coaches to help right the ship after a brutal 5-12 season.

According to ESPN's Dan Graziano, the Bears will interview former Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll for their coaching vacancy on Thursday. This comes after news that Chicago will interview another former head coach, Mike Vrabel, for the head coach job on Wednesday.

Carroll, 72, was reported to express interest in the Bears' coaching vacancy, and the feeling is mutual. After parting ways with Seattle last offseason, he would like to return to the sideline after a year off. Carroll spent 14 years as the head coach of the Seahawks, which includes leading them to a 137-89-1 record, 10 postseason appearances and a Super Bowl XLVIII championship.

The Bears have now requested interviews with 14 candidates, which includes assistant coaches, a current head coach, and former head coaches: Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson, Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn, Miami Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver, Arizona Cardinals Drew Petzing, New York Giants offensive coordinator Mike Kafka, Minnesota Vikings defensive coordinator Mike Flores, Pittsburgh Steelers offensive coordinator Arthur Smith, Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy, Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator Todd Monken, former Stanford head coach David Shaw, Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Joe Brady, Vrabel and Carroll. General manager Ryan Poles also confirmed Bears interim head coach Thomas Brown will get a formal interview for the permanent role.
