Bears HC Matt Eberflus explains what excites him about new EDGE Darrell Taylor

The Chicago Bears bolstered their pass rush with the addition of Darrell Taylor, who was acquired for a 2025 sixth-round pick in a trade with the Seattle Seahawks.

Taylor, 27, has totaled 21.5 sacks, 90 pressures, 34 QB hits and five forced fumbles in 49 games, including 5.5 sacks in 2023. The former second-round pick has managed to stay on the field, missing just two games in the past three years. Taylor's best season came in 2022, where he totaled 9.5 sacks and four forced fumbles.

Bears coach Matt Eberflus spoke about the addition in an appearance on 670 the Score's Bernstein & Holmes Show, where he shared what excites him about Taylor.

"It's exciting for us to get him," Eberflus said. "He's got sack production, a really good pass rusher. He fits our scheme in terms of his effort, his style, his disposition."

Chicago has been looking to upgrade their pass rush this summer, as evidenced by general manager Ryan Poles attempting to trade for Matthew Judon before he landed with the Atlanta Falcons. While Taylor doesn't have the resume of Judon, his pass rush production will make him a key rotational piece in a group that features Pro Bowler Montez Sweat, DeMarcus Walker and rookie Austin Booker.
