Bears fans are once again fed up with Matt Eberflus, coaching staff
The Chicago Bears entered Week 3 with a favorable schedule ahead of them to get back into the win column, beginning with the Indianapolis Colts. With Indy featuring a poor run defense and inability to generate turnovers through two weeks, this felt like a game where the Bears could get right and fix the problems that have plagued them to start the season. That didn't happen.
Indianapolis stifled the Bears' run game and forced three takeaways to win 21-16, dropping Chicago to 1-2. Though there were plenty of mistakes that aided in the loss, the Bears weren't helped by the coaching decisions made by Matt Eberflus and offensive coordinator Shane Waldron. Eberflus mismanaged timeouts and game situations, while Waldron had questionable plays on offense and couldn't get the run game going yet again.
It's more of the same for this coaching staff. Despite having more talent on the roster and adding a new offensive coordinator, it seems as if the same issues that followed this team over the last two years are still present in 2024. This has led fans to once again ask why Eberflus is still the team's head coach. Here were some of the reactions on social media:
It didn’t even take 3 full games for Poles’ decision to bring back Matt Eberflus as a mistake.
We’re seeing the same issues, despite a completely flipped over roster.
No words for this team right now. #Bears— Aaron Leming (@AaronLemingNFL) September 22, 2024
I've seen enough through 3 games to know that Matt Eberflus and Shane Waldron are a big problem. #Bears

They should’ve fired Eberflus in the winter. God DAMN it

Matt Eberflus is not a good head coach folks, idk how much more clear it can be. stop trying to justify his awful in game decisions.

This is also on Matt Eberflus who hired Shane Waldron. And he retained Chris Morgan to coach this offensive line.
I wouldn’t trust Matt Eberflus to hire anyone else EVER again.
I’m officially OUT on both Eberflus and Waldron.— Joey (@CalebGoatQB1) September 22, 2024
Matt Eberflus is an exceptional DC.
He is a terrible head coach.— Ryan Dengel (@RyanDengel) September 22, 2024
Hard Knocks spent so much time making Matt Eberflus look cool that I completely forgot he’s an idiot.

Matt Eberflus should have been fired in the offseason.
He had a 10-24 record. You have a rookie QB coming in that needs development.
Made zero sense then. Makes none now. https://t.co/siWY0LIN3k— Max Markham (@MaxMarkhamNFL) September 22, 2024
The Bears had the golden opportunity to reset everything. You wanted to draft Caleb ok cool, move on from Eberflus and bring in an entire new coaching staff. Alot of us wanted Harbaugh. But nope we did the same thing we did with Fields & Trubisky.

Caleb Williams has gotten better over the past 3 games. Matt Eberflus and Shane Waldron have not. That's a big problem. #Bears

Matt Eberflus just finds a way to lose games
— Ricky O'Donnell (@SBN_Ricky) September 22, 2024
Loss sucks but we won’t really do too much with Eberflus as head coach. Hes still horrible as a HC
I feel a lot better about Caleb though. He looked super comfortable. Great game to build on— Austin (@BadTakeFuges) September 22, 2024
You’ve got to fire Matt Eberflus and Shane Waldron after this.
— Ryan (@RyanHeckmanNFL) September 22, 2024
Don't everyone start jumping on my Matt Eberflus bandwagon now........
Keep with your "you can't fire a HC with a Rookie QB" take most of you lads had during off season...
4th best HC in the Division and its not even close!— Cork City Bears Fan (Ant) (@BearsCork) September 22, 2024
Am I still overreacting to Eberflus? It's the exact same product for three years straight. It does not matter who is on the field

I've seen enough from Shane Waldron

Fired
Fire Shane Waldron immediately— Herb Lawrence (@Ecnerwal23) September 22, 2024
The thing most puzzling to me after 3 weeks is Shane Waldron. He was a solid NFL OC for three straight years in Seaatle and now looks like he's not even qualified to coach high-school. This came out of nowhere.
— Johnathan Wood (@Johnathan_Wood1) September 22, 2024
Shane Waldron is not qualified for any NFL job.
