Bears complete head coach interview with Todd Monken

The Chicago Bears have completed an interview with Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator Todd Monken for their head coach vacancy, the team announced Friday. It marked the team's 13th interview in the first round of the coaching search.

Monken was interviewed by a committee that included general manager Ryan Poles, president and CEO Kevin Warren, chairman George McCaskey, senior director of player personnel Jeff King, executive vice president of people and culture & chief human resources officer Liz Geist, and director of football administration Matt Feinstein.

Monken, who hails from the Chicagoland area, boasts over 30 years of experience at the NFL and collegiate levels. Monken has served as offensive coordinator with four different teams -- Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2016-18), Cleveland Browns (2019), Georgia Bulldogs (2020-22) and now Ravens (2023-present). He also served as head coach for Southern Miss (2013-15). Monken, 58, has made an impression due to his work with MVP quarterback Lamar Jackson, who's on track to repeat as MVP this year. The Ravens have gone 25-9 since Monken joined the team.

Chicago has completed interviews with Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson, Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn, former Carolina Panthers/Washington Commanders head coach Ron Rivera, former Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll, New York Giants offensive coordinator Mike Kafka, Miami Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver, Arizona Cardinals offensive coordinator Drew Petzing, former Stanford head coach David Shaw, Bears interim head coach Thomas Brown, Pittsburgh Steelers offensive coordinator Arthur Smith, former Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy and now Monken.
