Bears complete head coach interview with Thomas Brown
The Chicago Bears have completed an interview with interim head coach Thomas Brown for their head coach vacancy, the team announced Monday. It marked the team's ninth interview in the first round of the coaching search.
Weaver was interviewed by a committee that included general manager Ryan Poles, president and CEO Kevin Warren, chairman George McCaskey, senior director of player personnel Jeff King, executive vice president of people and culture & chief human resources officer Liz Geist, and director of football administration Matt Feinstein.

Brown started the 2024 season as the Bears' passing game coordinator, but he was promoted to offensive coordinator following the firing of Shane Waldron. Chicago's offense, and quarterback Caleb Williams, showed progress under Brown in the weeks that followed. Brown got a second promotion to interim head coach after Matt Eberflus was fired after another clock management issue in a Thanksgiving loss to the Detroit Lions.
Unfortunately, Brown's tenure as interim head coach was disastrous, where the Bears went 1-4. Granted, Brown inherited a team riding a six-game losing streak with a culture that players have indicated needs an overhaul.
Chicago has completed interviews with Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson, Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn, former Carolina Panthers/Washington Commanders head coach Ron Rivera, former Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll, New York Giants offensive coordinator Mike Kafka, Miami Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver, Arizona Cardinals offensive coordinator Drew Petzing and now Brown.
