Bears CB Tyrique Stevenson named NFC Defensive Player of the Week
Chicago Bears cornerback Tyrique Stevenson was named NFC Defensive Player of the Week following his clutch performance in Sunday's 24-17 comeback win against the Tennessee Titans.
Stevenson totaled four tackles, two pass breakups and recorded an interception, which turned into a game-winning pick-six that he returned 43 yards for a touchdown to put Chicago up by seven points with seven minutes remaining. It was the Bears' first lead of the game, and one that they wouldn't relinquish after scoring 24 unanswered points en route to the comeback.
"The goal was to go out there and hold them to a third-and-long, get off the field and give the ball back to Caleb," Stevenson told reporters after the game. "[Will Levis] pitched it up, he made a mistake, and we just capitalized off it. I'm glad I gave this team the energy we needed to finish the game."
This is the second time Stevenson has won NFC Defensive Player of the Week -- and his second time in three games dating back to Week 17 of the 2023 season. Stevenson is the first Bears player to earn the award in consecutive seasons of their first two years since safety Eddie Jackson in 2017 and 2018.
