Bears CB Kyler Gordon disappointed TD was called back vs. Seahawks

In the Chicago Bears' 6-3 loss to the Seattle Seahawks in Week 17 on Thursday Night Football, cornerback Kyler Gordon came extremely close to his first career NFL defensive touchdown.

In the third quarter, Gordon was able to strip wide receiver Pharaoh Brown and then ran the ball back to the end zone for what appeared to be a touchdown. But the referees ruled him down by contact, reversing Gordon's touchdown.

In what would've been the first career score of his professional career, Gordon would have to settle on a very good performance, totaling six tackles, the forced fumble and recovery, with one pass defended, as well. After the game, Gordon spoke to the media at his locker and said he badly wanted what would've been his first touchdown since his days of high school football.

"Apparently someone touched my leg," Gordon said was the explanation from referees on why they called his touchdown back. "They're gonna have to show me a replay before I believe it. Yeah, it's sad, I haven't had a touchdown since high school. I could've had two this year. I was about to go to the house [end zone], score, celebrate, the whole crowd got loud. Bring some energy to everybody."

Despite the Bears' bad season for all phases, Gordon has been one of the few bright spots on the team's defensive unit. On the season, Gordon has a 73.3 PFF grade, slotting him as the 33rd best cornerback in the NFL under their scoring system, as he had 49 solo tackles on the season.
