Bears bring in 8 players for tryout on Tuesday

The Chicago Bears hosted a number of players for a tryout on Tuesday at Halas Hall. According to Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune, the Bears worked out eight players: Wide receivers Kearis Jackson, Cornelius Johnson, Jordan Kerley and David Wallis, quarterback Gavin Hardison, cornerback Damarion Williams, and tight ends Armani Rogers and Joel Wilson.

Half of the tryouts were wide receivers, which isn't surprising considering Rome Odunze could miss Week 2 with knee sprain. Johnson is the most decorated of the four after his career at Michigan, while Jackson is the only player who has NFL experience with the Tennessee Titans in 2023.

As for the other players, Williams and Rogers have NFL experience at their respective positions. Meanwhile, Hardison is a rookie quarterback who played for UTEP, and Wilson has bounced around between practice squads.

Tryouts are nothing new in the NFL, and many of them come early in the season as teams work to find potential fits who may be able to contribute at some point during the year. It remains to be seen if any of these players will be signed to the practice squad or the active roster.
