What’s the latest with the Chicago Bears?
The Bears continued training camp with their eighth practice on Monday, which was a lighter, non-padded workout after back-to-back days in pads on Friday and Saturday. It was a red-zone focused practice, where the offense bounced back after a rough couple of outings with operational issues. They committed just one pre-snap penalty (delay of game) on Monday compared to the five-plus each day over the weekend.

Bears training camp notebook: Offense cleans up penalties on Day 8
The Bears practiced for an hour and a half inside the Walter Payton Center due to wet conditions outside. Practice mainly consisted of red zone situations for the first, second, and third-team units in preparation for their matchup with the Houston Texans on Thursday evening. Monday's practice was closed to the public, but Bears Wire was able to attend with the media. Here are some notes from both the practice, as well as media sessions with offensive coordinator Shane Waldron, quarterback Caleb Williams, defensive end Austin Booker, and linebacker Jack Sanborn.
Takeaways from eighth practice at Bears training camp
Following back-to-back padded practices, the Bears had a light, non-padded workout on Monday, which was held inside at the Walter Payton Center due to weather. Chicago's offense bounced back following a couple of rough practices from an operational standpoint in what was a red-zone focused workout. Rookie quarterback Caleb Williams also had some highlight-worthy throws, including to fellow rookie Rome Odunze ahead of Thursday's preseason opener against the Houston Texans in the Hall of Fame Game.

Caleb Williams discussed the benefits that come with him getting preseason reps, which could very well start Thursday in Canton. "I always think there’s more pros than cons, if anything, especially for a young guy like myself," Williams said. “Reps are always paramount for a young guy like myself." Chicago’s rookie quarterback made it clear that he wants to play on Thursday, but he also understands the decision isn't up to him.
Bears training camp 2024: Studs and duds from first full week
The Bears are in the thick of training camp practices as they inch closer and closer to the start of the 2024 season. Every rep counts for this team as they look to install a brand new offense with new playmakers, including rookie quarterback Caleb Williams. On defense, the Bears are building off a successful 2023 season with many of the same starters in place. They will look to solidify themselves as a top defense, while role players on both sides try and make an impact to secure a roster spot when the preseason wraps up.
