What’s the latest with the Chicago Bears?

The Bears have concluded their bye week following another impressive win in Week 7. While it's a bye week that's on the earlier side, it allowed players like Jaquan Brisker, Tyrique Stevenson and Kyler Gordon to get healthy ahead of a big Week 8 showdown against the Washington Commanders. Luckily, Chicago has good depth in the secondary, as evidenced by their Week 6 win.

Matt Eberflus praises Bears defensive back depth amid injuries

But the Bears have been dealing with injuries in the secondary, where Brisker (concussion) and Stevenson (calf) missed Week 7 while Gordon suffered a hamstring injury in the first half of that win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. With those contributors sidelined, Chicago had some key reserves step up in their place -- safety Elijah Hicks and cornerbacks Jaylon Jones and Josh Blackwell. Bears coach Matt Eberflus praised the depth at defensive back and specifically how those players' experience in this system has helped them not miss a beat.

Coming into the season, the Bears only had three prime-time games, a Sunday night game against Houston Texans (they lost 19-13), a Week 15 matchup against the Minnesota Vikings on Monday Night Football and a Week 17 game against the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday Night Football.
