Bayern Munich are prepared to allow Alphonso Davies to leave the club as a free agent in 2025.

Davies has entered the final 12 months of his contract with the Bundesliga side and contract negotiations have failed to find a breakthrough.

Real Madrid are monitoring the situation of the Canadian closely and have been linked with a move to sign Davies in a cut-price deal this summer.

However, Bayern are not prepared to sell Davies and are happy to allow his contract to expire next summer.

“We told him very clearly that if he doesn’t renew his contract, we will let it expire,” the club’s deputy chairman and honorary president, Uli Hoeneß, said.

“He won’t get any more money.”

Real Madrid are prepared to wait until 2025 to sign the 23-year-old, though are unlikely to be alone in their pursuit of Davies as a free agent with Premier League clubs on alert.

The left-back has won five Bundesliga titles and the Champions League among his honours since signing for Bayern from MLS outfit Vancouver Whitecaps.

He has been included in the Bundesliga Team of the Season on three occasions and has scored 15 goals in 53 caps for Canada, often featuring in a more advanced role for the national team. He captained the Canada team that reached the Copa America semi-finals this summer.
