Bayern Munich sporting director addresses links with Barcelona star – ‘It is not something…’
The situation surrounding Barcelona’s unregistered player, Dani Olmo, has attracted attention far beyond La Liga.
Clubs across Europe are monitoring developments closely, especially with the possibility that the talented midfielder might become available during the winter transfer window.
However, Bayern Munich’s sporting director, Max Eberl, has made it clear that the German champions are not planning to capitalise on Barcelona’s current issues.
Olmo’s registration dilemma has stirred significant interest, not just in Spain but across the European football landscape.
Speculation had emerged linking Bayern Munich as one of the clubs keeping a watchful eye on the situation.
Bayern are not interested
However, Eberl dismissed such claims, indicating that Bayern are not particularly interested in pursuing the player under these circumstances.
Speaking in a recent interview, Eberl was asked about Olmo’s situation at Barcelona.
He admitted that he needed a better understanding of Spanish regulations regarding player registration. Still, he firmly stated that this is not a matter of significant interest to Bayern Munich.
“First I have to familiarize myself with the Spanish regulations to know what ‘registered’ or ‘unregistered’ means, but it is not something that interests us very much,” he said as quoted by SPORT.
While acknowledging Olmo’s quality as a footballer, Eberl tactfully avoided fuelling speculation about Bayern’s involvement.
“He is a good player, yes. But if I say no, it would look bad,” he added.
What’s the latest with Olmo
Meanwhile, the latest updates from Spain suggest that Barcelona could soon receive some relief in this case as the Higher Sports Council (CSD) might grant a precautionary measure allowing Barcelona to temporarily register Olmo and Pau Victor.
If approved, this decision would enable both players to feature in LaLiga and make them available to manager Hansi Flick.
However, this registration might not come in time for Barcelona’s upcoming Super Cup semi-final but could still be finalised before a potential final appearance.
