Real Madrid always have an eye out on the world’s best players, hoping to swoop them into their already pre-existing gold mine of resources. Players towards the end of their contracts have a special place on the list.

Jamal Musiala, thus, has risen as a strong candidate linked with a move away from Bayern Munich considering that his deal in Bavaria runs out in 2026.

While the German giants are indeed trying to secure a renewal, rumours in recent days reflect that several clubs have their eyes on Musiala with Real Madrid being one of them.

Bayern director talks about the youngster’s future

Speaking to the media earlier today, Bayern Munich sporting director Christoph Freund provided an update on contract renewal talks with Musiala and admitted that the talks are ongoing.

“There are always talks. We want to extend the contract,” he said, as revealed by Fabrizio Romano.

He insisted that the team’s project hinges on the dynamic winger and that they counted on him for the long term. “We want Jamal [Musiala] to stay with us long-term and help shape an era.”

Finally, he accepted that an outcome was not on the horizon but hoped that their efforts would reach fruition. “Hopefully the talks will have a positive end! But there’s no time pressure,” he added.

So far this season, the 21-year-old has started two games for Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga, scoring one goal and averaging two key passes per game.

While Real Madrid do have their eyes on the youngster, their priority for next summer is Manchester City’s Rodri. If they are to go for Musiala, they will face strong competition from Barcelona and could even get into a bidding war.
