Bayern boss confirms Mathys Tel wants to leave
Bayern Munich board member for sport Max Eberl has confirmed reports that Mathys Tel wants to leave the club before the transfer window closes on Monday.
Having been limited to just 458 minutes in 14 games in all competitions this season, the 19-year-old hopes to find more playing time elsewhere.
"We spoke in December when Mathys said he wanted to assert himself. Now he has said he wants to leave," Eberl said after Bayern's 3-1 win over Slovan Bratislava in the Champions League on Wednesday.
"He said he wasn't getting enough playing time, which is understandable. Nevertheless, we would have liked him to fight on.
"There is no bad blood. I can understand him."
Now it's all about seeing what opportunities arise before the transfer window closes on Monday, with the Frenchman having plenty of suitors.
"We have to see what's best for everyone," said Eberl, adding:
"I've rarely seen so many clubs calling about one player."
After Wednesday's game against Slovan Bratislava, Tel went down to the Bayern fans for perhaps the last time.
Asked after the game in the mixed zone if it was his last game for Bayern, Tel replied:
"I don't know."
Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham and Manchester United are among the clubs said to be interested in the 19-year-old.
According to Bild, Bayern want to send Tel out on loan rather than sell him, but the Frenchman is open to any kind of move.
