Bayer Leverkusen looking to cut ties with kit sponsor Castore
kicker reports that Bayer Leverkusen are looking to cut ties early with kit sponsor Castore not only due to financial reasons but practical ones as well.
One reason is the that British-based sportswear brand is struggling with supplying the kits, which are in high demand. For example, the Leverkusen away kit has been completely sold out for a number of weeks and fans have not got their hands on the kit yet.
For Leverkusen, this means they are missing out on more money as with a more competent manufacturer the club would be able to sell more tickets.
So, after two years, Die Werkself are looking at other options. Regardless of the new supplier, Leverkusen’s success last season means they will benefit from a new contract. The teams in the running to take over from Castore are Adidas and New Balance.
New Balance is said to be the front-runner. The American company already makes kits for Porto and Lille whilst they had also a long term partnership with Liverpool.
