April 23 (The Sports Xchange) - Highlights of Wednesday's Major League Baseball games. - - - Brewers 5, Padres 2 Home runs by shortstop Jean Segura and left fielder Khris Davis gave right-hander Kyle Lohse all the support he needed as the Milwaukee Brewers beat the San Diego Padres. Lohse (4-1) held the Padres to two runs on five hits with five strikeouts over the course of his seven-inning stint. Ryan Braun was batting .186 at home coming into the game but put the Brewers (16-6) on the board with a one-out double in the first and also singled in the third. - - - Red Sox 5, Yankees 1 New York Yankees starter Michael Pineda was ejected in the second inning for having a foreign substance on his neck, while Boston's John Lackey struck out 11 in eight innings to lead the Red Sox. Yankees (12-9) shortstop Derek Jeter had his 11-game hitting streak snapped and made a throwing error in the third that led to two unearned Boston (10-12) runs. - - - Dodgers 5, Phillies 2 Pitcher Zack Greinke struck out 11 and shortstop Hanley Ramirez broke out of a slump with a home run, leading the Los Angeles Dodgers to a win over the Philadelphia Phillies. Yasiel Puig, who went 2-for-4 and drove in two runs, including the tiebreaker in the fifth inning, also helped the Dodgers (13-9) end a two-game skid and snap Philadelphia's three-game winning streak. The Phillies (10-11) fell below .500 again. - - - Rangers 3, Athletics 0 In a battle of undefeated aces, Rangers left-hander Martin Perez outdueled Athletics right-hander Sonny Gray, pitching his second straight shutout and lifting Texas to a three-game sweep of Oakland. Perez (4-0) allowed just three hits and extended his streak of scoreless innings to 26 as the Rangers (14-8) moved a half game ahead of the A's (13-8) and into first place in the American League West. Gray tossed seven innings and struck out eight but fell to 3-1. - - - Braves 3, Marlins 1 Evan Gattis delivered a two-run pinch double with two outs in the eighth inning to break a tie and Craig Kimbrel pitched the ninth for his sixth save as the Braves beat the Marlins. Gattis, the Atlanta (14-7) catcher who pinch-hit on Wednesday, won the series opener on Monday with a walk-off home run in the 10th inning and has 17 RBIs in 13 career games against Miami (10-12). - - - Twins 6, Rays 4 Rookie sensation Chris Colabello knocked in four runs, including the eventual game-winner with a two-run single in the top of the 12th inning as the Minnesota Twins beat the Tampa Bay Rays. Colabello had a two-run homer earlier, helping the Twins improve to 10-10 and putting them in position to take the series three-game with a win Thursday. Colabello, a 30-year-old rookie who did not begin playing affiliated baseball until 2012, leads the American League with 26 RBIs. - - - Nationals 5, Angels 4 The Washington Nationals took advantage of the Los Angeles Angels' shaky bullpen, scoring four times in the ninth inning to pull off a stunning victory to avoid a three-game sweep.
