The Biancocelesti picked up their third consecutive win across all competitions with an emphatic 5-1 win over Como, which featured goals from Taty Castellanos, Pedro, Patric and Loum Tchaouna.
“Compliments go to the team, who understood what the game needed,” Baroni told DAZN after the full-time whistle in Como.
“The hard work always leads to improvements. When I speak about an ambitious team, I’m talking about a team that wants to grow. Today was an important test, against a team that plays good football and has great technical quality.”
Baroni explained exactly how his team were able to rise to such an impressive victory.
“We were really good at nicking the ball off them in the first half, managing the game well. They changed formation in the second half, it took a lot of energy to press them up high. We missed a good opportunity just before their goal.”
Baroni was also asked to comment on the wonderful goal scored by Como’s Luca Mazzitelli, which went in from an improbable angle after an acrobatic half volley.
“Como’s goal was nice, but it was a half-overhead kick,” he said.
He then went on to explain how Lazio switched things up after conceding.
“They put a lot of pressure on us, so we changed something. I needed us to get going, some of them were struggling.
“Isaksen dropped off a bit, Marusic told me that he wanted to try in the first half, but he felt some discomfort. Even ignoring the goals, we took control of the pitch in a great way.
“I often tell the team to break through in numbers, especially on the wing, but we can also switch it up and fill the area when we do that. We are working on it, the team is very receptive and carries out the work with conviction. I want the team to play good football.”
