"I know he's played the middle in New York a little bit too. I can't really speak to what other teams did with him, but what I've seen, I think he's a guy that could play in that role," Sharks head coach Ryan Warsofsky said.
Goodrow is returning to Madison Square Garden to face the New York Rangers tomorrow night. Goodrow spent three seasons with the Rangers and played 241 regular season games. He went on three playoff runs with the team. He scored an overtime goal against the Florida Panthers in game three of the Eastern Conference Final last season.
The relationship between Goodrow and the Rangers soured during the 2024 offseason, as the forward was waived, and reports of frustration with how things went down surfaced.
Goodrow joined the Sharks and said he is "all bought-in" to playing in San Jose.
He looks to be getting a significant chance to impact tomorrow night as he skated alongside Macklin Celebrini and Tyler Toffoli. Goodrow has two goals in 17 games this season and will likely be a key forechecker for Celebrini and Toffoli.
"100%. I hope so," Celebrini said when asked if he would try to set up Goodrow for a goal.
