Barcelona winger explains what has changed for him following 10/10 performance
Barcelona forward Raphinha delivered a standout performance in his team’s dominant 5-0 victory over Young Boys in the Champions League.
The Brazilian not only found the back of the net but also provided the assist for Robert Lewandowski’s opener, showcasing his attacking prowess.
This match marked a significant bounce-back for Barcelona following some recent struggles in both the Champions League and La Liga.
After the match, Raphinha reflected on the importance of the team’s swift response following recent disappointments in both the Champions League and La Liga.
The loss to Monaco in the opening European matchday was a tough blow, but Barcelona’s immediate reaction in the next game was crucial.
“We knew that after the Monaco game in the Champions League, we had to respond very quickly in the next game, and we did very well,” Raphinha began by saying.
He also emphasised how much the fans’ presence at home games plays a pivotal role in boosting the team’s performance. Playing at home, with the unwavering support of the Barcelona faithful, gives the players an extra push to perform at their best.
“Playing in front of our fans is much easier because of the support they give us, and I’m glad to come away with a good win.”
Change in position
Raphinha has undergone a noticeable transformation in his game, largely due to a change in his position on the pitch. Previously operating more on the right flank, he now feels much more comfortable and effective in his current role.
This shift has allowed him to influence matches more directly, helping both in attack and overall team play. His desire to improve and contribute to Barcelona’s success is evident, as his performances continue to improve.
“What has changed the most is the position I played. In the last two seasons, I played more on the right, but now I feel very comfortable.
“I have always had the desire to play well and help the team,” he explained.
Scoring is important
With Raphinha in fine form, Barcelona are steadily establishing themselves as one of the most dangerous teams in Europe. Scoring consistently and performing in crucial moments is key, and Raphinha’s role in that success is undeniable.
“We press high, we do it and understand it very well. Physically, everyone is very good.
It is very important to score a lot of goals and be important at the end. The more goals we have, the more important it will be,” he concluded.
The more goals they score, the greater their chances of achieving significant results, and Raphinha is proving to be a decisive factor in this journey.
