Barcelona unable to fully understand severity of Ronald Araujo’s hamstring injury

Over the weekend, Ronald Araujo suffered a hamstring injury during Uruguay’s Copa America quarter-final victory over Brazil. It’s been confirmed that he will play no further part in the tournament, with the expectation being that he will also miss the start of the 2024-25 season for Barcelona.

Early reports stated that Araujo would miss 1-2 months with the injury, but right now, it’s hard for Barcelona to fully understand how severe their defender’s problem is. That’s because preliminary medical tests have come back inconclusive, as reported by Matteo Moretto.

Because of the build-up of blood in the affected area in Araujo’s leg, the injury has not been fully defined. Further tests will be conducted next week, and it is hoped that there will be a clearer picture defined at that stage. Until the, Araujo will remain with Uruguay in the United States, with no plans for him to return to Catalonia.

It’s incredibly frustrating for Araujo to have suffered another injury problem, especially as it means he would miss out on helping Uruguay win the Copa America. Barcelona will be concerned that they do not yet know how long they will be without one of their most important players.
