Over the past few days, reports of Al Hilal wanting to sign FC Barcelona starlet Vitor Roque in the current transfer window have been growing strong.

The 19-year-old finds himself staring at an uncertain future at the club and the Saudi Arabian giants have shown a strong interest in his services.

There have been talks about Al Hilal being prepared to shell out around €30 million for his signing as well as proposing a lucrative contract offer for the player.

However, now, Fabrizio Romano reports that Vitor Roque and his camp have rejected the initial contract proposal put forward by Al Hilal.

There have already been club-to-club talks between Barcelona and Al Hilal, following which the Middle Eastern outfit sent forward a contract proposal to the player.

However, the teenage striker, who finds himself out of favour at Barça, has already shot that offer down, prompting Al Hilal to seek out reports on other possible options.

What next for Roque?

Roque, 19, only arrived at Barcelona in January but has never really gotten a good chance to earn the trust of those at the club.

Xavi and his staff were not admirers of the Brazilian but it was expected that things could change under Hansi Flick.

However, given Barcelona’s finances, registering Roque from scratch with La Liga would be a hassle and his departure would not only generate revenue but also leave salary space for any other new incomings.

The player, for his part, has always maintained that he wishes to stay put and succeed at Barcelona. He is currently a part of the squad in the US for the pre-season tour and only time will tell whether he continues at the club or not.
