A headline up-and-coming member of the first-team ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona will take his place as the youngest football player at the Olympic games this summer.

The player in question? Pau Cubarsí.

Defender Cubarsí, for his part, is in the thick of what have come as a whirlwind couple of months.

After looking like a shoo-in for the Spanish squad for Euro 2024, the youngster was ultimately left off of Luis de la Fuente’s finalised list.

Not only that, but he was then forced to watch on from afar, as fellow La Masia talent and close friend Lamine Yamal led Spain all the way to glory at the summer showpiece.

And yet, come the summer’s end, Cubarsí, too, could have an altogether prestigious award of his own to show off.

This comes with the gifted stopper having been handed a call-up to his country’s squad for the summer Olympic games in Paris.

Cubarsí is one of three Barcelona stars in the Spanish squad for the tournament, alongside Eric García, and Fermín López.

It is Cubarsí, though, who will make history with his appearance in France’s capital.

This comes with the Blaugrana sensation, at just 17 years of age, the very youngest footballer to have been selected for the games.
