Following their 5-1 victory over Real Betis, Barcelona trained this morning at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper, with the session focusing on recovery.

The Blaugrana secured a thumping victory over Manuel Pellegrini’s men on Wednesday night, which sends them into the Copa del Rey quarterfinals. Now, the focus shifts back to La Liga, with Getafe awaiting this weekend.

Andreas Christensen to be ready for Getafe clash

As reported by Mundo Deportivo, a notable highlight of today’s training session was Andreas Christensen’s intensive efforts to prepare for his return to the squad.

The Barcelona defender has been sidelined for the past five months due to tendinopathy in his left Achilles tendon.

His only appearance this season was in the opening match, where he played 26 minutes against Valencia (1-2). Shortly after, the club announced his injury.

Having continued his training since recovering fully from the injury, Christensen is expected to receive medical clearance in the coming days and could be included in the squad for Saturday’s La Liga match.

With Inigo Martinez out injured, Christensen’s return comes as a timely boost for Barcelona, more so given the packed run of fixtures lying ahead for Barcelona.

The team will travel to Madrid on Saturday to face Getafe at the Coliseum, where they will aim for a crucial victory in a stadium that has often posed challenges.

Following the Getafe match, Barcelona will have three more fixtures in January: two Champions League group-stage games against Benfica and Atalanta and a La Liga clash against Valencia.
