Which Barcelona star has played the most minutes this season?

Confirmation of the leading figure in Hansi Flick’s Barcelona squad when it comes to minutes played this season has on Tuesday come to the fore online.

The player in question? Iñigo Martínez.

Stopper Iñigo has of course played a starring role for Barcelona over the early months of the new campaign.

Across the Blaugrana’s 17 outings in all competitions to date, the 33-year-old featured from the off in all but one, developing into something of an on-pitch leader in the process.

Defensive excellence aside, Iñigo has managed to contribute in the attacking third, too, to the tune of two goals and two assists between La Liga and the Champions League.

Add as much to the injury problems at the heart of Hansi Flick’s defence, and it should come as little surprise to learn that the former Athletic Club standout has played more minutes than any other Barca player this season.

As per a report from Mundo Deportivo:

‘Iñigo is first in the Barça squad’s minutes on the pitch ranking, having participated in 1,416 minutes spread across 16 of the 17 games in the Barça official calendar.’
