Barcelona star ‘has no plans to leave’ amid recent transfer links

A headline member of the midfield ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona has this week reiterated to the club his commitment to the cause in Catalunya’s capital.

That’s according to Diario Sport, who point towards İlkay Gündoğan as the player in question.

Engine room veteran Gündoğan has seen his name, almost out of the blue, take its place front and centre in the headlines in Spain over the course of recent days.

As much comes after reports began to surface in the media, confirming serious interest in the signature of the 33-year-old.

Gündoğan, it is claimed, has made his way firmly onto the wishlist of Qatari giants Al-Sadd, who are desperate to make the German international their statement summer signing.

To date, the stance of the player himself on a potential move has remained unclear, with Gündoğan no doubt tempted by the prospect of a late-career payday.

As alluded to above, though, today, an insight into the current mindset of the former Manchester City man has been revealed.

And the news will no doubt come as music to the ears of those of a Barcelona persuasion desperate to see a crucial member of their side’s squad stay put for next season.

As per a report from Sport:

‘His idea is to fulfil the contract he signed just a year ago with Barça. Gündoğan is delighted with the arrival of Hansi Flick and has no plans to leave Barcelona.’
